Fitness and Health have driven me for as long as I can remember. No one was surprised when I started personal training straight out of high school.

At the time Fitness First was new to Australian shores. My first year working there taught me a lot and I quickly realised that personal trainers are not equipped for the job they’re meant to be doing.  So many people were coming to me with underlying injuries and health problems I had no idea how to deal with.

During my first year there I was lucky enough to meet a guy that had the answers I needed. That guy was Paul Chek. I studied Paul’s work (aka the CHEK Program) and became the injury go-to-guy at the club I was working in. It was a great time for putting my new skills into practice. My books were full of gym members with lower back pain!

As my education continued I outgrew the gym environment. There was no space to assess my clients the way I needed to, no privacy to discuss the deeper issues they faced and too many distractions.

After 6 years at Fitness First I went into practice with like minded people and could finally work the way I wanted to.

I’ve since run 3 different unique health and wellness facilities, worked with literally hundreds of clients with all sorts of musculoskeletal issues and complex health challenges, I’ve specialised in chronic pain and recurrent injuries and spent the last 8 years working with the most complex cases.

I regularly present for About My Brain Institute on the Gut-Brain connection for teams at companies like Microsoft, ASX, NSW Department of Resources and Geoscience and at Vivid Festival and teach at their i4 Neuroleader™️ certification and retreats both in Australia and overseas.

Holes in our concept of health

Along the way I came to realise that we have some gaping holes in the way we view pain and illness. As human lives have become more and more disconnected from nature and the way we have evolved to live, our bodies struggle to keep up.

Most of the pain and health issues the average person will suffer from nowadays are chronic in nature. Chronic conditions are easily preventable through changes to diet and lifestyle and the correct application of exercise.

Rather than see pain and illness as valuable messages as to the inner state of the body we generally do everything we can to eradicate the symptom.

It is our actions and our choices more than anything that dictate the state of health we will be in!

This is a concept that is sorely missing from conventional health care. The body is NOT a machine! It is a system of interdependent systems - a cybernetic being. It cannot be treated like a machine and expected to function properly.

It burns me up inside every time I meet someone or hear of someone struggling with health issues. They’ve often had the run around from doctor to doctor and therapist to therapist and not found resolution. The more professionals they see the more deeply entrenched, in the belief that they will never get better they become.

It should not be this way. If health were so elusive and disease so intrusive how would we have ever survived prior to medicine?

I started Wise Moves from a desire to see people overcome their pain and health challenges once and for all and to see more people take control.

OWNING Your Health

No matter whether you are sick and in constant pain, an athlete with an injury that keeps coming back, or you just want to look, feel and perform at your best then you need to be healthy and vital.

Health is not just the absence of symptoms and disease. It is the state of optimal functioning of your body, mind and spirit. It’s usually only in the absence of health (when a person’s experiencing significant pain or illness) that it’s really appreciated.  It is not only the foundation for fitness but a for a happy fulfilling life.

Owning your health means taking full control of the circumstances that affect it. Thing’s like diet, exercise, sleep, breathing and even your mindset are all within your control. These things are what will ultimately dictate whether or not you are healthy.

Wise Moves is about giving you all the tools you need to overcome your pain, recurrent injuries, health challenges and OWN your health once and for all.

Take your body to another level

My services are designed to take each individual from wherever they might be on the scale of health and vitality to a place of optimal function and peak performance. I bridge the gap between rehab and strength and conditioning in order to not only get you better but to make sure you don’t get sick or injured again.

In other words, it’s my goal to bring each of my clients to a state of health and performance beyond where they were before their injury or illness. That wasn’t good enough to stop you getting sick or injured the first time was it?

How this looks is different for each person as we all have different needs. What works for one person may not work for another. This is one reason why health can appear so elusive.

Rather than focus on symptoms I focus on bringing balance and vitality to the body and its systems. I do this through corrective exercise and strength and conditioning, health coaching and education.
